If you love your handbags quirky, then this medium sized top handle satchel from the 60s is a little piece of tourist kitsch heaven!
Made as souvenirs for visitors to Mexico, these are actually really nice examples of leatherwork from the local artisans, with a handpainted figures adorning the front and back, painted in black and golden orange on a bluish green background.
This is a medium sized hand held bag and is deceptively roomy- would easily fit a decent sized book and a handheld tablet, plus a smartphone! Has a zip pocket on the back, a zipped internal pocket, and a slim pocket on the front.
Going by the triangle rings on the sides, this probably had a shoulder strap originally.
Bag dimensions;
Height (not including handle)= 28 cm
Width= 36 cm
Max thickness= 8.5 cm
In good vintage condition- leather is a little beaten and distressed, but all stitching is solid, lining is great, and zips and magnetic clasp all work. Has a slight oily stain on the bottom (see pics),
